Affiliates are companies that promote the merchant. Affiliates bring what the merchant has to offer to the consumer. That’s me and you. 

What separates Affiliates from one another is the way in which they go about bringing merchants products to the consumers. There are six different ways in which this can be achieved;


1. Personal websites and content belonging to a certain niche.

Affiliates run websites that cater to a certain group of people. In this way, you can get quality traffic and more business. Web sites that would come under this category are; websites with certain hobbies and topics, games, travel related websites.


2. Loyalty Programs & Reward websites

Websites that create a faithful user base which shares their profit with them. They can literally give them cash or they use a reward system that builds up points that contribute to discounted items later on. The idea is that by giving them money or rewarding them with points, they build a loyal customer base. These users are happy to come back time and again to purchase from this website because they feel they are “getting something back”

3. Pay per click and search affiliates

These kinds of affiliates bid on key words and phrases to get more traffic to your website. They use search engines such as Google and Yahoo. Besides being able to do this merchants can now use brand terms make merchant rankings better, using natural portal listings. Doing this is called Organic Search Engine Optimization or SEO. Merchants decide whether or not they want their affiliates to bid on their products to promote them. If they do want them to bid on their products they must then choose whether or not to have them bid on brand terms or just generic terms.

4. Email Marketers

Email marketers send emails to their consumers who also belong to a certain niche. There are companies who are solely used for this purpose. These companies have an expansive list of potential buyers. Email Marketers are paid on a cost per thousand basis.

5. Affiliate Networks

Affiliate networks are getting a reputation as being “top tier.” Affiliates are now beginning to offer more and more programs to get your business out there. These affiliate programs offer all the programs listed here you just have to choose one. The only thing that remains the same is the affiliate’s goal of striving to bring you the traffic you want to your website, and bringing the user your content.
