The point of marketing is to know what your customer needs and to meet those. Anyone who has a business also has a desire to expand that business and to see it succeed. The best way to focus in on the expansion of your business is to concentrate on organic growth.

Working a room full of people at a networking event requires strategy and skill. Especially considering that everyone has the same goals of connecting with as many people as they can, in a short period of time. How can you meet as many of the right people as possible in the limited time that you have available?

Strategic Networking

The first step is to discover which people you want to start a business relationship with. Don’t try to do this with everyone. Otherwise, you will find that you will have little time for a meaningful conversation and end up making much less of an impact on the people whom you meet. Most people at networking events will make a brief introduction and tell you what they do. This will help you to focus on your “shortlist” of those whom you want to make an impact upon. After you introduce yourself, explain in a few sentences why you believe that it would be mutually beneficial to have a business relationship with them.

Be strategic, and because you have a limited amount of time get a “feel” for the room. Since most people tend to congregate in groups, move between groups, picking up the tenor of the conversation in each group, before approaching any one person. At the same time, try to talk with everyone you have identified as important.  Look for important cues in conversation that will allow you to break the ice and find common ground with them. Don’t try to corner anyone as this will make the person feel trapped and uncomfortable.

Many business owners shy away from email marketing because they believe all email marketing campaigns are purely spam. However, this is not true and not partaking in this type of marketing can cause your business to lose out on a great deal of business. By not appealing to potential customers via email, your business may lose a great deal of business to competitors who are using email marketing campaigns to reach customers around the world. However, the first step of an email marketing campaign should be creating an email distribution list. This article will discuss some popular options for doing this and should help to the reader to learn more about what is acceptable and what is not when it comes to email marketing.

Once you have made the decision to start using email marketing to promote your business you are likely facing the dilemma of compiling an email distribution list. This is essentially a list of email addresses to which you will email your advertising and promotional materials. One common way to gain a list of email addresses is to purchase a list from distributors. However, this method is not very effective at all and we do not recommend it. The problem with purchasing an email list if you have no way of knowing whether or not the members of the list would have any interest at all in your products or services. This is very important because while you want to reach a large audience with your email marketing you also want this audience to be members of your overall target audience.
